1973年マレーシア、ムアール生まれ。1996年マラ技術大学にて美術学士号取得。その後マレーシア国立美術館のYoung Contemporaries Awardを受賞し、ドクメンタ12(2007)、アジア太平洋現代美術トリエンナーレ(2009)、光州ビエンナーレ(2014)、シンガポール・ビエンナーレ(2011、2022)に参加するなど国際的に活躍。
日本では1998年に茨城のアーカスプロジェクトに参加したほか、「エモーショナル・ドローイング」年(東京国立近代美術館 / 京都国立近代美術館、2008)、「サンシャワー: 東南アジアの現代美術展 1980年代から現在まで」(国立新美術館 / 森美術館、東京、2017)、同年ヨコハマトリエンナーレ2017「島と星座とガラパゴス」(横浜美術館他)の出展で知られ、また、2013年から続く広島県尾道市のアーティスト・イン・レジデンス「AIR Onomichi」に継続して参加。2023年には尾道市立美術館で個展「ニューランドスカップ シュシ・スライマン展」を開催しました。
