イアン・ウーは1967年、シンガポール生まれ。現在、シンガポールを拠点に制作活動を行っています。1991年ナンヤン・アカデミー・オブ・ファイン・アーツ（シンガポール）卒業。1995年にウィンチェスター美術学校（イギリス）欧州美術専攻修士課程、2006年にロイヤルメルボルン工科大学（オーストラリア）美術専攻博士課程を修了。最近の個展に、「How I Forgot to be Happy」（2013年、小山登美夫ギャラリーシンガポール）、「Ian Woo, A Review 1995-2011」（2011年、Institute of Contemporary Arts、シンガポール）などがあります。代表的なグループ展に、「Market Forces – Erasure: From Conceptualism To Abstraction」（2014年、Osage Gallery、香港）、「Island Vernacular」（2013年、Peninsula Art Gallery、プリマス、イギリス）、「Encounter: The Royal Academy in Asia」（2012年、Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore、シンガポール）などがあります。シンガポールを代表する現代作家の1人として、作品は2013年にファイドン社が発行した《Art of the New Cities: 21st Century Avant-Gardes》に収録されました。
