Yoshitomo Nara Prints

8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery is pleased to present “Yoshitomo Nara Prints” from July 25th to August 6th.

Yoshitomo Nara continues to fascinate people around the world with his diverse works including paintings, drawings, bronze and FRP sculptures, and large-scale installations. This exhibition features his woodcut prints including the latest work that will be on view for the first time.

The woodcut prints for the show were printed by Pace Prints’ (New York) master printer, Yasuyuki Shibata, who also worked with the artist for the series of woodcut prints in 2010. Like the last time, a lot of correspondence was made between Tokyo and New York before the work was completed. Mica is applied to “Untitled” (2012), which has richly nuanced colors. The idea was born in the process of finishing up the work by the artist and the printer in New York. 26 blocks were used to create a print of 34 colors on the Japanese paper, “kizuki-paper”.
