1977年オランダ生まれ。2000年にヘリット・リートフェルト・アカデミーを卒業後、ライクス・アカデミーでビジュアルアーツを学びました。現在アムステルダムを拠点に制作活動を行っています。
馬や救助犬など、人間に密接な動物を20年以上にもわたり映し出してきたデュマ。現代社会における動物と人との共存、生の儚さの美しい瞬間をとらえた彼女の作品は、世界中で高い評価を得ています。
日本には度々訪れており、2014年より日本の在来馬を撮影するプロジェクトをスタート。2020年銀座メゾンエルメスフォーラムで開催された「『ペゾアール（結石）』シャルロット・デュマ展」では、写真・映像、オブジェ、藍染の布のインスタレーションと、空間全体で体感できる瑞々しい作品世界が大きな話題を呼びました。弊廊では2018年、2023年に2度個展を開催しています。
