8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery is pleased to present Shintaro Miyake: Personal History [2000-2018]. Shintaro Miyake has created the liberated and witty worldview with wide variety of forms of expression such as drawing, sculpture, performance and video. His rich and unique works, such as “Cut-outs” of characters like little girls drawn on cardboards or wood and live drawing with wearing costumes that the artist makes himself, keep attracting viewers all over the world, and he has held solo exhibition in many locations in the world including Italy, Austria, Berlin, and Taiwan. This exhibition will focus on the transition of his 19 years artistic practice, mainly featuring drawings and sculptures.

In a concurrent solo exhibition Boundless Nightscape (August 7th to 26th) at GINZA ATRIUM (GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS), Miyake will construct “a town” with colorful buildings made of cardboards. For this occasion a book that documents Miyake’s artistic practice will be published by Bijutsu Shuppan-sha. The original products with motifs of Miyake’s works produced by GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS Store will also be available.
