Varda Caivano was born in Buenos Aires in 1971. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2004 and currently lives and works in London. Major solo exhibitions include “The Density of the Actions” at The Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago in 2015 (her first solo show in the US), and at Victoria Miro Gallery in London. Barry Schwabsky observed of her solo exhibition in London in 2011: “with the exhibition ‘Voice’, Caivano has moved from being one of London’s most promising younger painters and established herself as one of the best painters, of any age, anywhere today,” (Art Forum, May 2011, p. 297).

Her major group exhibitions include “The Encyclopedic Palace” at the 55th International Art Exhibition at the Venice Biennale (2013), “Why Not Live for Art? II ? 9 Collectors Reveal Their Treasure” (Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, 2013), the Gwangju Biennial (Korea, 2012), “British Art Show 7: In the Days” (Nottingham Contemporary, touring to the Hayward Gallery and other venues, 2010), “Resonance” (Suntory Museum, Osaka, Japan, 2010), “East End Academy: The Painting Edition” (Whitechapel Gallery, London, 2009), and the Busan Biennial (South Korea, 2008). Her work is included in the public collection of the National Museum of Art, Osaka.
